Afternoon Tea ~ West Coast RV Adventure 2023 ~ Day 27

We got to sleep in. It’s always nice to have a slower pace in the morning every once in a while. Our eagle is back today, perched up on the top of the tree across the marsh. I better be careful and not wander off as I am prone to do.

Mom & Dad got the most dressed up they’ve gotten on this trip so far, which I figured wasn’t good news for me. Yep, they left me again. Mom said dogs were not welcome at high tea at the Hotel Empress. And they put me in my little house inside the LHOW again, so I guess they’ll be gone for a while.

Dad told me all about it when they got home. It was his first high tea experience. He didn’t seem very excited about it yesterday, because he tried to give his ticket to the nice lady, who was a complete stranger by the way, in the campsite next to us. She said she’s lived on Vancouver Island her whole life and has never been. But even though that would have been a nice gesture, Mom wasn’t having it. So, in fact, Dad did go to high tea. I think he’s glad he went. He said it was delicious! They had two different kinds of tea, a warm yummy scone, five different types of finger sandwiches and five desserts! Mom said it was the most generous tea she’s ever attended. She thinks it’s because there were so many men there (probably under duress) with their wives or families. They were stuffed to the gills and didn’t even eat dinner when they returned. Luckily, they remembered to feed me though since I didn’t have high tea!

It started raining during their tea, so they decided to do the Hop On Hop Off bus tour through Victoria to get a feel for the city. They didn’t do any hopping though because of the weather. I’m glad because that meant they came back to the LHOW sooner.  Mom didn’t take many pictures because the rain made it hard.

They got back about 4:30 in the afternoon, and it really started raining. You’ll never guess what Mom did….she put on her pajamas and crawled in bed. She said there was nothing better than a nap in the LHOW listening to the pitter patter of rain on the roof.

We’ve really been most lucky with weather on our adventure. This is really the first time we’ve had to stay in because of the weather. And it felt good to cuddle up together and snooze, so it was fine by me!
