The Lake(s) ~ West Coast RV Adventure 2023 ~ Day 23

We woke in Seiku to beautiful warm sunshine with no gale force winds! That wind is something we won’t miss from the ocean. From my morning view, I could see the sun shining on the grass. A lot of our campsites have been gravel or rock of some kind with some areas of grass. But this one is all grass! When Mom took me out to do my business, I just started zooming all over!! Luckily it was really quiet and there were a couple sites on either side of us empty, so Mom and Dad just let me run! It was awesome! I love the LHOW, but I really can’t zoom in it….  I ran so fast that Mom couldn’t even video me! After that, we headed out. We didn’t have far to drive today, so we took time to explore Olympic National Park a bit. The drive along the Strait was pretty, and then we turned inland.

After driving through the forested mountains for a bit, the road turned and in front of us was a beautiful, little, pristine lake! Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park is a stunning deep blue lake with tree covered mountains sloping down to its shores. Mom and Dad said it’s very Lake Tahoe-esque but smaller, the water looks so pure you could drink it. We all knew where we were spending the day! Dad drove to the lodge and we parked to explore. If felt as if we had walked back in time. There was a small lodge, individual little cabins and Adirondack chairs sprinkled along the pebbly beach. Mom and Dad both said it reminded them of the lodge in Dirty Dancing. I don’t know what that is, but it sure brought smiles to their faces. I just know this place is pretty special!

We explored a bit and found a trail called Moment in Time Walk that we took through the forest. There were so many different types of trees: douglas fir, western red cedar, western hemlock, spruce, and big red leaf maples. It was really peaceful, pretty and had so many new wonderful smells!!

I was tired after that, so Mom and Dad suggested I take a nap in the LHOW while they had lunch at Lodge. They should know by now that my job is to protect it not nap in it while they’re gone. Dad came back after a while and found me fiercely protecting it. Then we both took a nap together. Mom sat by lake and wrote. She said she found a new happy place. I think we all did.

Sadly, we had to move on. Dad wanted to drive through Port Angeles to check out the ferry so we’d know where to go tomorrow. Then we went on to Port Townsend and our campsite for the next two nights. We had the BEST campsite on the northeast tip of the marina with water on two sides of us. AND we had a beautiful 270 degree view of the water and four snow covered mountains surrounding us: Whistler, the southern part of the Cascades mountain range, Mount Rainer and the mountains in the Olympic National Forest. We could hear the water lapping the shore and watch seals hunt for their dinner. Yep, you know the routine, Mom and Dad had their happy juice outside.

Sorry, the video is too big to upload. You can view it here:

It was really beautiful, and we should have been more than content. After a while, I tried to tell them what I was thinking. They thought I wanted to go inside. And I did. But there was more. There was something about that lake that lingered in my soul and tugged on my heart.
