Bodega Bay ~ West Coast RV Adventure 2023 ~ Day 15
Yep, it’s really a song. And the first verse is great…just ignore the rest. But a few things happened before we got to Bodega Bay. We woke up and cleaned up Al and Mary’s house, changed beds and towels and repacked the LHOW. It was so generous of Al & Mary to let us stay in their home! These last few days were a nice break for Dad from driving. And it was so fun hanging with Buz and Debbie too. As we packed up, I got so many steps in following Mom and Dad from their bedroom or kitchen all the way out to the LHOW with every load they took. I wanted to make sure that they didn’t forget ME! Dad says it seems like we have more bottles up in the storage area than when we left Plano, and yet they’ve have been enjoying their happy hours each night. Hmmm… I guess it’s a hazard of visiting Paso Robles and Napa Valley. Before we left, Mom made sure I watered the California poppies growing in Uncle Al’s yard. Aren’t they pretty?
But now we’re back in the LHOW and headed west to the coast toward Bodega Bay. It was an enjoyable drive through Napa, Sonoma County and the coastal hills. The hills looked as if they were painted with blooming golden mustard. More Montanas de Oro like the ones in the Paso Robles area.
Mom’s friend Nancy highly recommended the Spud Point Crab Co in Bodega Bay. So we went there first. Wow! Guess a few other folks got that message too! The line was crazy long! We aborted that plan and headed to the beach. I was so excited to be going back to the beach! Mom let me sit on her lap and look out the window to get the best view. Just as we were getting out of the RV, it started to sprinkle. Dad suggested grabbing the umbrella as insurance against a downpour. It worked! Once Dad got the chairs set up, it stopped raining. So we just relaxed on the beach for a bit. Mom took a walk, and saw some interesting patterns in the sand that the waves had made. Water is so powerful and mysterious! As she was heading back to us, it started raining again! We scrambled to pack up and get back into the dry LHOW. Thank goodness for the big umbrella!
Ever the optimists, we tried Spud Point again thinking a little clam chowder would make the perfect dinner. But no, the line was still so long! Mom waited a bit, and the nice lady behind her explained that the family that owns Spud Point wins every clam chowder contest they enter. And that’s why the line is so long. But Mom aborted that plan once again. So we went and set up camp and had a nice campfire instead.
It was so nice zooming in a big house and yard, but I really like being back in the LHOW with Mom and Dad and being back on the coast too.
