Red, Red Wine

Hope Travels ~ The West Coast RV Adventure 2023 ~ Day 8

We left a week ago, and boy has the time flown by! We’ve driven a third of our total mileage but still have four more weeks to go. Mom celebrated Dad’s great driving so far with breakfast in bed!! Those garlic fries from a couple of days ago made great breakfast potatoes along with some fried eggs. Lucky guy!! I tried my cutest antics to get him to share but to no avail.

Today was a down day for me. Everything Mom and Dad planned didn’t include me, so I just chilled in the LHOW while they enjoy their people activities. They leave the AC on for me when they leave, so yeah, I literally just chilled. But they had a really good day.

It started with lunch and wine tasting up a canyon and on top of a hill at Calcareous Winery. The drive there was up a little windy road and was like driving through a tunnel of trees. So pretty! It was a sunny warm day, and the view from Calcareous of the surrounding hills and down into the valley was just spectacular! Mom said their lunch of burrata and a fresh greens salad with strawberries was delicious and the wine was even better! Even Dad loved the Calcareous York Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Mom ordered. It was a perfect Sunday lunch setting.

Then Mom and Dad split ways and each did what made them happy. Mom went to another winery for another tasting, and Dad went to hit golf balls. Mom loved her experience at Opolo trying their wines. She found a good “Texas pool wine” for Caitlin and her to enjoy over 4th of July when they’ll visit us. And they had a nice Cabernet Sauvignon and a lovely Zinfandel.  After the tasting, Mom sat on their patio and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon and a glass of good wine. She told me she felt like her granddaughter, Elise. The backstory there is when we visited David, Caitlin and Elise last time, Elise would pause from an activity sometimes, look up at Grammy with a smile on her face and say, “happy!” Mom was “happy” too!  Dad was also “happy” keeping his golf game oiled and putting on nice greens.

Mom and Dad met back up at the campsite. They left me there and went out to dinner at a newer restaurant in Paso Robles called ETTO Pasta Bar. I was glad when they got back, and we were all together again snuggling in the LHOW. I missed them today.
